The light brown powder is diatomaceous earth, used here to kill fleas.
more to the photos are the stories behind them
Near the end of Christmas Day, electric wiring at a point near an outlet not being used was burning. Saw it just in time to witness electricity go off in that area. And maybe just in time to prevent a bigger fire. No electricity now in that area of two rooms and a bathroom. I improvised in order to light up the area. Fortunately I had the materials that night.
when it was just my mother and I left in this house, no cats yet, I often asked her if we could move to a smaller place. on hindsight, if that had happened, the cats wouldn't have happened.
five newly born kittens in danger of dying were trapped inside our property years ago. they became mine although I tried my best for them not to be mine.
all the rest were born of mothers who are mine; that is, all the rest are from the five.
other cats (kittens) have entered our property, too, and tried to join the cats here, but them I took to the outside of a Church and left them there.
neutering became possible only beginning 2019. their number peaked at 37, from 2017–2020. 11 died and 6 were born in 2020–2021.
that is my room at the back of the house. fortunately again, when the doorknob broke, i had, along with needed circumstances, some tools and materials literally within reach to be able to do something about it, for, because of the cats, i couldn't leave it like that even for a second.
we don't have much sunlight; the little sunlight we had in past years, like in the photo above, was only for a short while each day, and there were times of the year when, because of the angle, even less sunlight would reach us.
the little sunlight has been further decreased by further structures immediately around. decreased defense against viruses and other health problems.
maybe because of lack of sunlight, one of them has weak hind legs and needs as much help as possible in the soonest time possible. four of them in years past had that condition, which degenerated into not being able to rise at all. i had to spoonfeed them in that condition, they had to answer the call of nature in that condition, for more than a year until their deaths. two others had that condition but got better and became normal as they grew up.
in the photo above we still had those windows for sunlight and air. that little area was later leased out. before it was and before structures were built, i said i could only agree if they would build other ways for sunlight and air to come in, like through the roof and a new window at the right. it wasn't done.
something in my life:
adjusting to life's interactions with me is mission: impossible, haha!
that of course has affected everything including finances like a domino effect
because of that we are in poor living conditions and have poor defenses, more apparent in the later photos above & below. particularly sad for these cats who depend on me.
for many months or maybe even more than a year, they had their junk in my garage, without pay -- it wasn't even part of the lease -- making it a dangerous place, too.
by the way, they are the same people who, while my mother was still here, damaged our roofs, because they transported their heavy construction materials from the vacant lot to the left through our roofs to their construction at the right (left when viewed at the front). they didn't pay for it, and even if they did, it was wrong.
they did many other injustices. these photos are just of what they did to the garage.
they have grown in love with one another
Sorry nakakasilaw yung ilaw.
She is female, but her name is Popoy, a male name, a baby name given by my mother when she got trapped inside our property when she was newly born and in danger of death, her mother would not be found again, and we could not find adoption.
How to feed her at such a young age? Discovery: the only thing she liked was milk in my hand.
"Hello? Puede makausap si Popoy?"
(Nilagyan ko sila ng vco because of fleas.)
